In the course of some online ressarch on the issue of affectations versus style choices, I stumbled across this cautionary blog entry from Ian Lidster:

“Under no circumstances ever confuse affectation with style. Style is to be noted for its uniqueness. Affectation is recognizable by its predictability.

Sometimes, however, it is difficult to know if a chosen behavior is indeed an affectation, or if it is really a manifestation of one’s honest-to-God personality.”

Today’s beret is a one-of-a-kind number from jenevieve at etsy.


These are photos of two sizes of Parkhurst berets (the blueish one is 11 and 1/2 inches, the yellowish-cream one is 10 and 1/2 inches). These are cotton and lighter-weight and therefore much more comfortable than the scratchy wool berets ubiquitous in my childhood.
