Dear Diary: Metropolitan Gerasimos, Anniversary, Jude

Fact #1: Metropolitan Gerasimos visited our church, St. John the Baptist, on Tuesday. The picture to the left was not taken at that time, but rather on the occasion of his first visit to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, San Jose, California, on April 28, 2005. The past year has not aged him significantly, however, and this is as he looked last Tuesday. Metropolitan Gerasimos was enthroned last year.

Fact #2: Tuesday was the one-year anniversary of my chrismation into the Orthodox Church.

Fact #3: My young friend Jude was baptized this year, on Holy Saturday. The occasion was cool on many levels, the least of which was the fact that he was, I believe, the first person to be baptized in our new adult-sized baptismal font — well, tank, actually. The picture on the far left is, again, not our tank. Ours is also in the shape of the cross, but made of wood and free-standing.
